About ConnectiCare
Ranked as one of the top health plans in the country, ConnectiCare takes great pride in delivering high-quality health insurance with exceptional customer service.
In 1981, ConnectiCare was born with the mission of establishing a health plan that would truly care about improving the health of its members. ConnectiCare still lives by that same mission, serving more than 240,000 individuals in Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, and New York.
Our company has a local presence with our 500 employees based in Farmington, Connecticut. As a result, we know our customers by first name and we are committed to satisfying them.
ConnectiCare offers a full range of health insurance products including cost-saving deductible plans. We continually develop new products to meet the changing demands of consumers, government, and business.
ConnectiCare has distinguished itself as an early industry leader in disease management and health management programs. For our members, we run programs to help with asthma, diabetes, heart care, and pregnancy, to name a few.
In 2005, ConnectiCare was acquired by the Health Insurance Plan of New York (HIP) which has presented more opportunity to grow our company. As part of the HIP family, ConnectiCare continues to conduct business under its well-respected name brand and its locally-based management team in Farmington.
ConnectiCare maintains an "Excellent Accreditation" from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) since this standard was established in 1999. We aim to remain one of the best plans in America and continue to provide our customers with an exceptional customer experience.
The Chamber Program History
Before 1992 ConnectiCare was primarily an HMO alternative for the greater Hartford area. Gus Gamache, the former CEO of ConnectiCare, had a vision to differentiate the firm from other carriers by expanding and providing access to a comprehensive portfolio of healthcare for the small business.
Stephen Glick the co-founder and administrator of the Chamber Insurance Trust (CIT), shared a similar vision. He looked to use the combined buying power of the members of the Chambers of Commerce to create affordable benefit options for the small business.
ConnectiCare came to the forefront wanting to support this venture. With prudence and perseverance a three legged stool between the Chambers of Commerce, Chamber Insurance Trust and ConnectiCare was founded with a handshake and a common vision.
Under this umbrella, ConnectiCare and the Chamber Insurance Trust launched the first Chamber of Commerce small business portfolio, and in response hundreds of businesses purchased quality and affordable benefits. Today, the Chamber Program continues to prosper under Steven Glick and the current ConnectiCare President and CEO, Mickey Hebert. The Chamber executives in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts help the small business community access affordable healthcare.
